Gautam Gambhir will continue to be Team India's head coach, and no change is being considered so far, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source said.
"He will remain Head Coach in all three formats, no decision is being considered," the source said.
India's Test cricket has seen an unexpected low. A team that was almost unbeatable at home has now suffered two series defeats on home soil. Recently, the side suffered a 0-2 defeat against South Africa, and previously was also beaten by New Zealand by 0-3.
The series defeat has broken India's long-standing streak in home conditions. The loss against the Proteas also marked the third Test series loss under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir in 16 months. Overall, this is the third whitewash for the Asian Giants in the longest format.
A format in which Team India used to be hailed as one of the best teams has suddenly turned into its biggest concern.
Throughout the Test series, Indian batters continued to struggle against a strong South African bowling attack. Indian batters averaged just 15.23 across the two-match Test series against South Africa. This is also the second-lowest average for Team India in any Test series, after their 12.42 average during the New Zealand series at home in 2002-03.
After concluding the Test series, Team India and South Africa will lock horns against each other for the white-ball series, which includes three One-Day International (ODI) matches and five T20 International (T20I) games.
The first ODI match is scheduled to be played on November 30th at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Jharkhand.
Additionally, the "Men in Blue" will enter the 50-over format series under the leadership of KL Rahul. Team India's captain, Shubman Gill, has been provided rest as he has still not recovered from the neck injury that he sustained during the first Test match.
Also, Team India will miss the services of its lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as he will not participate in the contest due to workload management. The series will also see stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma donning the Indian ODI colours.
