Former England captain Nasser Hussain feels that incumbent skipper Ben Stokes' throw to run out wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was the moment that turned the scoresheet in the hosts' favour.
"When you look back, that Rishabh Pant run out in India's first innings will be absolutely vital to this game. With the ball, in the field, with the bat, Stokes is never out of the game!" Hussain said.
Team India suffered a loss by 22 runs in the third of the five-match Test series against England.
Despite losing the match, Hussain stated that the visitors had won so many sessions during the Lord's encounter, but their failure in capitalising on key moments led them to lose the match.
"This will be a tough one for India to take. If we had those pie charts up about who has won sessions in this series, they have won so many sessions. They have played so much good cricket," he said.
"But they are 2-1 down because of the key moments - little collapses, dropped catches, Pant's run out here at Lord's. India need a break. If we had back-to-back Test matches, this would he hard for them," added the 57-year-old.
In the final innings of the match, India's Ravindra Jadeja was the only man standing between England and their victory. Facing 181 deliveries, the left-hander kept toiling and scored 61 runs, with the help of four boundaries and a maximum. But all his efforts went in to vain as the side was bowled out for 170 runs.
Additionally, Shoaib Bashir sat out for the majority of the final day and came out to bowl in the final moments of the game. He broke Indian hearts after Mohammed Siraj middled his shot, but the overspin turned the ball back into the stumps, leaving the Indian speedster in dismay and with a look of disbelief
The Shubman Gill-led Team India will now lock horns against the 'Three Lions', starting from July 23. The match is scheduled to be played at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. Currently, England is leading the five-match Test series by 2-1.
