In the second Test against India, South Africa scored 247 runs for the loss of six wickets in 81.5 overs at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium.

Team India's Kuldeep Yadav returned with the figures of three wickets by conceding 48 runs in 17 overs.

Having opted to bat first, South Africa's Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton provided a strong start to the team. Facing 81 balls, Markram smashed 38 runs, including five boundaries, whereas Rickelton scored 35 runs in 82 balls, with the help of five boundaries.

Tristan Stubbs missed his well-deserved half-century by just one run. Facing 112 balls, he scored 49 runs, with the help of four boundaries and two maximums.

Skipper Temba Bavuma smashed 41 runs in 92 balls, including five boundaries.

Tony de Zorzi scored 28 runs off 59 balls, which were laced with three boundaries and a maximum. Wiaan Mulder scored 13 runs in 18 balls, including two boundaries.

Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreynne stayed unbeaten on scores of 25 and one run, respectively. Muthusamy has faced 45 balls, including four boundaries, and Verreynne has so far faced just four balls.

Team India's Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja registered one wicket each to their names. Bumrah conceded 38 runs in 17 overs, and Siraj was smashed for 59 runs in 17.5 overs. Jadeja leaked 30 runs in 12 overs.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar went wicketless in South Africa's first innings on day 1 of the second Test. Bowling four overs, Nitish was smashed for 21 runs, and Washington conceded 36 runs in 14 overs.

Team India's Shubman Gill has not featured in the series-deciding match against the Proteas. The right-hander has still not recovered from the neck injury that he sustained during the first match. In his absence, Rishabh Pant has been handed the leadership duties.

Currently, the Temba Bavum-led South Africa is leading the series by 1-0, and will look to register a whitewash against India on Indian soil. On the other hand, the hosts will play for pride and try to avoid a series defeat.
