Veteran batsman Kane Williamson has returned to New Zealand's 14-member Test squad for the three-match series against the West Indies.

Earlier, the right-hander had retired from T20 Internationals and sat out on the two-match Test series away to Zimbabwe in July and August.

Speaking on his return to the Test squad, New Zealand's head coach Rob Walter said that the 35-year-old's ability on the field speaks for itself.

"Kane's ability on the field speaks for itself and it will be great to have his skills as well as his leadership back in the Test group," said the head coach.

So far, Kane Williamson has featured in 105 Test matches and has scored 9276 runs in the format's history. He also has a top score of 251 runs, with 33 centuries and 37 half-centuries. The right-hander is also New Zealand's highest run-scorer in the history of the longest format of the game.

All-rounder Daryl Mitchell was included and is expected to be fit after suffering a minor groin injury in the first one-day international against the West Indies eight days ago.

Pace bowler Zak Foulkes, who made his debut in the second Test against Zimbabwe with match figures of 9-75, is included in the pace attack with Jacob Duffy, who won his first Test cap in the same match. Blair Tickner returns to the Test side for the first time since 2023, following back-to-back player of the match performances in the recent one-day international series against England.

The three-match Test series between the West Indies and New Zealand will begin with the first match scheduled to be played at the Hagley Oval from December 2. The second game is scheduled to be played from December 10 at the Basin Reserve. The third and final match of the Test series is scheduled to be in action from December 18 at the Bay Oval.

New Zealand's squad for three-match Test series against West Indies: Tom Latham (capt), Tom Blundell, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Kane Williamson, Will Young.
