After the Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India did not shake any with the Pakistani players in any of the Asia Cup 2025 matches, the "Women in Blue" will also not engage in the customary handshake with the Pakistan women's cricket team ahead of their ODI Women's World Cup 2025 clash.

The high-voltage ODI Women's World Cup 2025 clash between arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, is scheduled to be played on October 5 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

"The BCCI is aligned with the government and there will be no customary handshake at the toss, no photo-shoot with the match referee, and no end-of-game handshakes. The policy followed by the men will also be implemented by the women," a senior BCCI source told PTI.

It will also be closely watched as to who presents the toss in Colombo, with expectations that it will be a former player or pundit from a neutral nation.

So far, having played one match in the ongoing global showpiece, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India secured a dominating victory by 59 runs through the DLS method against Sri Lanka at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati.

On the other hand, the Fatima Sana-led Pakistan will open their campaign by playing a match against Bangladesh on October 2 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Earlier, during the concluded Men's Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar Yadav and his men did not shake hands with any of the Pakistani players.

The "Men in Blue" defeated Pakistan on three occasions in the same event, including the title clash.

Later, after defeating the "Green Shirts", Team India players refused to collect the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is the chief of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
