Current Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir was among the hundreds of school cricketers, who attended the trials in North India, where the national team for the U-15 World Cup in 1996 was selected. Coach Sarkar Talwar told mid-day that Gambhir and Angad Bedi, son of the former India leg-spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, were among the aspirants, but did not make the final cut.
