Mourinho needed a draw to progress through to the knockout stages and avoid the embarrassment of dropping into the Europa League, but Ivan Marcano's own goal and Brazilian striker Willian's goal ensured the Blues finish top of the Group G, Sport24 reported.

Mourinho was reportedly under immense pressure of being sacked after Saturday's loss against Bournemouth condemned the Premier League champions to their latest humiliation in a dismal season.
