Beleaguered Man United boss dismisses rumours that his position as manager could be under threat if his team cannot overturn a 0-2 deficit against Olympiakos tonight

Manchester: Manchester United manager David Moyes yesterday brushed off suggestions that his position will be under threat if his side do not overcome Olympiakos in the Champions League today. Having lost the first leg of the Last 16 tie 0-2, United are on the brink of elimination.

The team's struggles prompted reports in British newspapers that Moyes could be at risk of losing his job if United are eliminated by Olympiakos, but he insists that his position is secure.
"My future has not changed one bit," he told reporters. "I have a great job, and I know the direction I want to go in. We know we have put ourselves in a poor position, but we have belief."
Asked if he had been given assurances by the United hierarchy that his position was not under threat, Moyes replied: "The biggest assurance is they will let me get on with the job. We never discuss it (his future). I have a six-year contract."
Moyes also backed his team to make a comeback. Moyes said: "The players are capable of turning it around. We're all desperate to put things right and make sure we play better to give our supporters something to cheer about.
'We have to go for the throat'
"When we went to Greece, the Olympiakos fans played their part so hopefully our fans will roar us on.
"We have to go for the throat to get the win. We won't be gung-ho but we will certainly go with a mindset to overhaul the deficit as quickly as we can.
"We won't be reckless as we could find ourselves with a bigger mountain to climb but we can be forceful. We have to be if we're to keep ourselves in the Champions League."
Olympiakos' injury woes
Meanwhile, manager Michel rested several first-team players with a view to today's game, but forward Javier Saviola is a doubt.
Nigerian forward Michael Olaitan and Greek defender Dimitris Siovas have been ruled out due to injury, but Spanish centre-back Ivan Marcano is in contention after a calf problem.
"We know very well what the team is going to face. We know how difficult it will be. We will have to go there and score a goal," said manager Michel.
