Lionel Messi produced a vintage performance as Inter Miami stayed on course for their first MLS Cup final appearance with a 4-0 rout of FC Cincinnati on Sunday.
Argentine superstar Messi scored once and provided the assists for all of Inter’s other goals, with Tadeo Allende scoring twice and Mateo Silvetti adding the other to send Miami into the Eastern Conference final.
“It’s an honour to manage Leo. We know what he is capable of; he proves it every weekend. Today, he did another incredible job off the ball, because we already know what he’s capable of with it,” said Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano.
Inter Miami will play New York City FC in the Eastern Conference final.
