It's not the dearth of talent but the lack of infrastructure that is the prime reason for the country to be ranked 149 out of 209 football playing nations, Real Madrid Foundation International clinics head coach Escudero Tello Guillermo said yesterday
“In these two-three days, I have noticed that the skill levels here in kids is no different between European players or other players from Japan or other countries. Maybe in the future with better grounds and fields, the kids can improve faster. I know in India the most famous sport is cricket. I think football needs more help from the government so that kids have better fields to practice,” said Guillermo on the sidelines of a training clinic at Priyadarshini Park, conducted in association with Lokko Soccer Schools.

Guillermo said that the ground conditions make it difficult for coaches to train kids. “In other countries they have artificial grass, or even natural grass that is in better condition than ones here. Working with the kids here is so difficult. Maybe in future you can achieve results similar to Spain or other countries,” he said.
The Mumbai camp will coach children in the age group of 7-18 years and will continue till May 5.
They will also have a similar clinic in Bengaluru from May 6-12.u00a0
