Caprisca for August Handicap

Of the six horses in the fray for the August Handicap, reserved for 3y old horses in class IV and to be run over a seven-furlong trip, only two--Caprisca and Glyndebourne--deserve serious attention.

This being early part of the season, a lot will depend on the current fitness levels of these two, but going by the Mumbai form, Caprisca appears to have an edge, especially because his conquest over this same trip--Themis--later won two more races--the Fillies' Championship at Mumbai and, recently, a class II race at Bangalore.

Clearly, Glyndebourne will have to come up a great deal to pose a serious threat to Caprisca, if the latter has maintained his fitness. On paper, therefore, Caprisca shapes as the best betting proposition of the Saturday card.
