Somdev Devvarman kept India on course for three Asian Games tennis golds on Monday when he reached the men's singles final.

The world 106 recovered from a break down in the final set to defeat Japan's Tatsuma Ito, ranked more than 200 places below him, 6-2, 0-6, 6-3 to set up a final date against top seed Denis Istomin.

The Uzbek reached Tuesday's final with a comfortable 6-1, 6-0 win over Japan's Go Soeda.

Devvarman admitted the fourth game in the final set had been crucial.

"He was serving at 2-1, 40-0, which was a tough position," said India's top singles player.

"But I came back and fought really hard to get hold of the next game too from 15-40 down. That gave me the momentum."

Devvarman returns to the court later Monday when he will partner Krishnan Singh in the men's doubles final against China's Gong Maoxin and Li Zhe.

India also has a gold medal hope with Sania Mirza and Vishnu Vardhan who tackle Chan Yung-jan and Yang Tsung-hua in the mixed doubles final.

Chan teamed up with Chuang Chia-jung to defeat Taiwan compatriots Chang Kai-chen and Hsieh Suwei 7-5, 6-3 to win the women's doubles gold.

Chang and Hsieh had on Sunday beaten China's Peng Shuai and Yan Zi in the semi-finals.
