According to medical reports around the world, the probability of triplets stands at one-in-64-million and to come across such a scene is a rarity in life. But that wasn't the case on Saturday during the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) girls' inter-school Division II football Round of 16 match at Azad Maidan.

St Anne's High School (Malad) defeated Shri Mammabai High School (Kalachowki) 3-0. However, more than the result, it were the triplets— Lauren, Leah and Jessica Tauro from St Anne's who stole the show. Lauren is the team's goalkeeper while Jessica and Leah occupy the left-back and left-midfield positions respectively.

Sister power on the field
The trio helped their side advance to the quarter-final with an assured display. Lauren and Jessica took charge of the defense and are yet to concede a goal in the tournament. On the other hand, Leah put in an energetic display on the left flank.

It was Lauren who first got into football by watching the sport with her brother Brent. "I used to watch football with my brother. I used to adore Cristiano Ronaldo and when I saw my brother play I decided to join," Lauren told mid-day.

Jessica followed suit and enrolled in her school's football coaching programme with Lauren in sixth grade.
Football began at home Leah soon joined them thereafter. Jessica said that there is a divide in the household with her mother, an avid cricket lover, and her football-loving father.

"Our mom is a cricket fan. She was less supportive at the start, but now she's very supportive. Our father has always been supportive and used to coach us when we were small," Jessica explained. Leah said she enjoys playing with her sisters.

"It is a fun experience playing with my sisters. Jessica and I, in particular, share a good relationship on the pitch. We help each other out in defence and midfield," Leah added.

St Anne's enjoyed most of the possession. Rhea D'Costa put in an impressive display with two goals and an assist to Anna Fernandes. It was Rhea's sixth goal of the tournament while Anna registered her third. St Anne's coach Alex Lopez was happy with the performance of the side. "We will have to improve on all counts to go deep," Lopez said.
