"It's a fantastic win. Any victory in a World Cup is a tremendous achievement. This Indian side has been the best team in the tournament. They have been consistent, resilient and in three matches they have come back to register wins. What's more important is that they played under so much pressure and expectation," said Rasquinha, who was a part of the Indian junior hockey side, that won the junior World Cup in Hobart, Australia way back in 2001.
Rasquinha also praised the coaching staff especially coach Harendra Singh for this win. "A lot of things worked for this side, a great team under Harendra's watchful eyes and wonderful coaching staff. For me the memories of 2001 win have come flooding back, 15 years, seemed like yesterday.
"Back then, 13 of us from that team were immediately selected for the senior team and eight from that batch went on to play at the Athens Olympics. I would like these boys to play for the senior team and then Olympics too," added Rasquinha.
