Tiger Woods will begin his 2011 season at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego next week.

Woods confirmed via his website that he has entered the tournament at Torrey Pines, where he enjoyed three straight wins prior to missing the event in each of the last two years. In 2009 he missed the tournament as he was recovering from knee surgery, and last year he left dealing with personal problems related to his extra-marital affairs.






However, he sounded optimistic in remarks on his Twitter feed.

He said: "I've been working hard on my game, it's game time hooah!!"

World No 4 Phil Mickelson has also committed to the event, which is close to his Rancho Santa Fe home.
