Most disappointing defeat of this season: Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was shocked as his team went down 2-3 after leading 2-0 at one stage to Wigan to blow away all hopes of getting back in the EPL title race.

"It is the most disappointing defeat of the season with the way we conceded. It is difficult to understand and accept, perhaps the players felt too much comfort but in football you must stay focused for 90 minutes and we were punished," said Wenger of the loss at the DW Stadium.

Goals from Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre had given Arsene Wenger's side a 2-0 lead by the 48th minute, but Ben Watson reduced the deficit in the 80th minute after which a horrific mistake by Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski gifted Wigan an equaliser in the 89th minute as he dropped a corner for Titus Bramble to head home. Then in stoppage time, Charles N'Zogbia shot past Fabianski for 3-2.

Arsenal are six points behind leaders Chelsea with three games to play.
