Tennis legend Pete Sampras is happy after his stolen trophies were dropped off anonymously at a hospital in Los Angeles
The retired star was devastated when thieves made off with dozens of his trophies, including those from his Wimbledon triumphs, from a warehouse in Los Angeles last December.
The lost items include trophies, medals, plaques, crystal and rings that were a testament to a career that brought a then-record 14 major titles and status as one of the greatest ever to play the game.
Sampras had put the trophies into storage while renovation work was carried out on the home he shares with actress Bridgette Wilson. He was stunned to discover the storage facility didn't have any security cameras.
It is not known how many of the trophies were returned in the drop off at the hospital, the Daily Mail reports.
Sampras had rented two units and stored furniture and the boxes of memorabilia. All, except for some large furniture, was taken.
Sampras had said that he never considered his things wouldn't be safe.
