It’s always good to be home, and who else to express her feelings better in this regard than tennis star Sania Mirza. The Hyderabadi lives in the UAE with husband and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. So, as the franchise-based International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), after its first two legs in Tokyo and Singapore, begins at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium this week, Sania is understandably excited.

“I am looking forward to go to Hyderabad. Actually, the city has a very rich culture of sport, with amazing athletes coming from there. People follow the tennis all year round and have a deep knowledge of the sport in general. I really hope they come to support us,” Sania said. The World No. 1 women’s doubles player said that returning home reminds her of the start of her tennis journey. “It’s very special for me to play back home because it reminds you where you come from, your beginnings, the journey you have had,” she added. And of course, there will be mummy kay haath ka khaana also, no?
