Sports Minister M S Gill expressed his delight at the allocation of funds for sports in the Union budget despite the amount being reduced to Rs 3565 crore. Last year's budget was Rs 3706 crore

Sports Minister M S Gill expressed his delight at the allocation of funds for sports in the Union budget despite the amount being reduced to Rs 3565 crore. Last year's budget was Rs 3706 crore.

"I am very happy that the Finance Minister consistently supported us for the sports and Commonwealth Games. I am fully funded," Gill said in a statement.

Out of the total allocation of Rs 3565 crore announced by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, a major bit (Rs 2069 crore) has been kept aside for the Commonwealth Games to be held in the Capital from October 3 to 14.u00a0

Now, Rs 1175.54 crore of this figure would go to Games Organising Committee, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
