A win in their last tie against Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana on March 31 will earn Springfield promotion to the Super Division.
The Mazagaon outfit had only one goal, Constancio Fernandes’ 45th minute strike from close range, to show for all their dominance in the first half.
Falcon were left ruing the five chances they missed in the first half as midfielder Akshay Shetty and striker Vernon Saldanha struck for Springfield in the second half.
Springfield’s coach Bhaskar Amin was confident that his team was capable of getting promoted this year.
“In this league you can’t underestimate any team. The match against Willingdon is a crucial one for us. We have reached the play-off stage for the last three years but luck wasn’t on our side. I am confident that the boys will do well this time,” Amin said.u00a0u00a0
