Asian and Commonwealth steeplechase gold medal-winner Sudha Singh and Asian marathon Champion Gopi T will spear head the Indian women's and men's challenge respectively at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday, January 21. The USD 405,000 event will also witness a supreme battle among some of the world top distance-runners in the international elite category. Getting off the blocks will be Ethiopia's Tokyo Marathon 2017 runner-up Solomon Deksisa and Mumbai Marathon 2017 runner-up Kenya's Joshua Kipkorir. Among the tom international women, defending champion Kenya's Bornes Kitur and 2017 Ljubljana Marathon winner Ethiopia's Shuko Genemo will contest for top honours.

In a unique initiative, the organisers of the Mumbai Marathon have decided to give away not one but two medals to every finisher of the full marathon. ONe medal will be specially dedicated to the person who inspired the participant to run the full 42-km course.
