Suresh Kalmadi goofs up again

CWG 2010 Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi just cannot get himself off the news ufffd the sad part is that he's getting into it for all the wrong reasons. After all the booing during his opening ceremony speech on Sunday, he made his way into the main Press Centre yesterday morning, accompanied by CGF chief Michael Fenell, Michael Hooper CGF CEO and Lalit Bhanot Secy Gen OC, only to be questioned by the hitherto anxious and frustrated local and international media contingent.

However, there was a hilarious highlight of his brief talk. The over-enthusiastic OC boss in his attempt to thank His Royal Highness Prince Charles for gracing the opening ceremony instead blurted ufffd "I'd like to thank Prince Diana ufffd ooh ufffd I mean Prince Charles ufffd" ufffd the audience was in splits.

Then even as the press conference conductor had requested everyone in the press conference room to switch off their mobile phones, Kalmadi's mobile went off during the interaction. He immediately cut the call, but minutes later, it rang again even as its network signals constantly interrupted the microphone's reception leading to a squeaky sound. One foreign journo from the back row immediately shouted: "Mr Kalmadi could you please switch off your mobile phone." The already embarrassed politician sported a nervous smile and hurriedly turned off his cell phone.
