"Tendulkar would not be playing in the Challenger Series," Cricket Board sources said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, with the non-availability of the injured Yuvraj Singh for the tournament, a new captain is to be decided by the selectors for India Red.
India Green, the third team in the fray in the 50-over-a-side day-night tournament to be held at the newly constructed Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) stadium in Jamtha, will be captained by Suresh Raina.
