Twin problems for Bopanna-Qureshi

How about some rock and roll? American twins Robert Charles (Bob) and Michael Carl (Mike) Bryan regaled the US Open audience just before the start of the Grand Slam with Mike on the drums and Bob playing the keyboard.

They will have to strum up pretty music on court if they are to win their second US Open men's doubles title.

Their opponents in the final, the Indo-Pak pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi have caused a sensation by stunning No 2 seeds Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor and No 10 seeds Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman en route to the title clash.

What's more, Bops and Qureshi have beaten the Bryans in their only meeting at the Legg Mason Classic in Washington in August.

But the Bryans have a penchant for winning titles as juniors the two together won a mind boggling 100 doubles crowns.

Funnily in singles as juniors, their parents forbid them to play against one another in competitions if they were to play they would alternate in defaulting against each other.

Their records speak volumes. They recently surpassed the Woodies (Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge) by rattling up 64 doubles title victories on the ATP tour. They have won 8 Grand Slams (Wimbledon 2006, Australian Open 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, US Open 2005, 2008 and French Open 2003).

The 32-year-olds with Mike two minutes older than Bob both use single-handed backhands and are famous for their attacking shots and great hustle. The Bryans have another unique quality.u00a0

They are the only two players on the ATP circuit, who use the same racquet model, Prince, weight, strings and tension.

If Bopanna and Qureshi are to realise their dream, they will have to play at their very best
