PUNE: Four-year-old Attained who, despite pouring his heart out in each of the first 13 races of his racing career, was yet to win a race, finally broke the jinx in the mid-day trophy, on a card which was framed in honour of mainstream publications covering the sport of horse racing.

"Attained is a genuine horse," trainer Ms Nazzak Chenoy told mid-day after the race, "unfortunately, he always came across some really good horses. Even this Pune season, he had to play second fiddle to a couple of very good younger horses, one of them (Enabler) went on to win a graded race. I am very happy for Attained today--he finally broke the jinx in the mid-day Trophy."

The trainer owns Attained in partnership with her mother Mrs Bakhtawar Chenoy, and Mr & Mrs Aaloke Agarwaal, a Mumbai couple, who picked up a share in Attained purely on a whim after they bumped into Nazzak as complete strangers during a morning walk at the Mahalaxmi racecourse.

"I wish they (the Agarwaals) were here today to lead in Attained," Bakhtawar told mid-day, "they have always been very positive and happy even when he finished second or third. I really missed them today.”
