Competitive hockey returns to the city for the first time since the  COVID-19-caused break in March last year with the School of Sports-sponsored Winter Rink Hockey tournament at the St Dominic Savio High School turf in Andheri on February 12-13 (Friday and Saturday).

The tournament, organised by a private entity, Lawrence And Ana Sports Events, has got the nod from the sport’s national governing body, Hockey India, who have also nominated referees and other officials for the event.

Some of the city’s prominent hockey teams, including Central Railway, Bombay Republicans, Mumbai Customs and Union Bank of India among others, will battle for supremacy in the sport’s five-a-side version. Matches will also be held in the boys U-14 and U-16, girls U-14 and U-16 and women’s categories.
