Rio de Janeiro: Mark Cavendish finally has the Olympic medal he has coveted for so long after finishing second in Rio on Monday.

The 31-year-old from the Isle of Man won omnium silver, claiming an Olympic medal at the third attempt, just a month after taking his tally of Tour de France stage wins to 30, second on the all-time list behind only Eddy Merckx’s 34.
