India’s top doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bowed out of the China Open Super 1000 badminton tournament after suffering a straight-game defeat to Malaysian second seeds Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semi-finals here on Saturday.
Rankireddy and Shetty went down 13-21, 17-21 to the 2022 World champions and two-time Olympic bronze medallists. The Malaysians had also ousted the Indian at the Tokyo Olympics. Despite a string of strong performances this year — they had also reached the semi-finals of the Indian Open, Singapore Open, and Malaysian Open — Rankireddy and Shetty are yet to win any silverware.
