This year felt like one long scroll, but there’s finally something different to circle on your calendar. The Global Youth Festival (GYF) is back with its 7th edition on December 6 and 7 at Jio World Garden. And this year’s edition is shaping up to be its most expansive yet. Think of it as a festival where you can exhale.

What started as a youth experiment across Gujarat, Pune, and London is now a 15,000-strong global movement driven entirely by volunteers. GYF is intentionally sober, purpose-led, and built around the 5S philosophy of Satsang, Sadhana, Seva, Sanskruti, and Sports. The idea: To give young people a space that is both energising and grounding. It’s targeted for 16 and above, and organisers say they hope to see 16- to 40-year-olds attend the event.

This year, the festival has over 60 experiences spread across themed arenas. There is neon go-karting and a massive inflatable run at the Arena of Adventure; breathwork corners and kintsugi art at the Arena of Wellbeing; and a Humanitarian Arena of Empathy where you can pack relief kits or try DIY compassion projects.
One of the biggest draws is the festival’s spin on a sundowner. As the sun sets, the Golden Hour Sound Bath, billed as India’s largest outdoor sound healing session, will have hundreds of people sinking into stillness.

Keeping up with GenZ trends, the festival will see a concert by brother-sister duo Backstage Siblings, who started the ‘bhajan rave’ trend, Last Minute India, Mahadevan Brothers, and Stebin Ben among others.

The festival is entirely managed by young volunteers from Mumbai, with Dr Alok Shah, the chief organiser, at the helm.
