Crowded public places, no social distancing even after Section 144 imposed in Mumbai!
Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the city, on 17th September, the Mumbai Police imposed Section 144 under the Code of Criminal Procedure, restricting the movement of people to contain the spread of the deadly virus. The order, issued by DCP Operations, is to be enforced in Mumbai city starting from midnight of 17th September up to 30th September. Our photographers at Mid-Day went on the ground to capture the streets of Mumbai and the real-time scenes in public places after Section 144 was imposed. Unfortunately, people were still seen traveling in hordes at railway stations and other public places, with no care for social distancing or maintaining Coronavirus protocols.
