Seventeen Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) workers were suspended on Thursday by Commissioner E Ravindran reportedly for irregularities and negligence in their work.

According to the complaints, the KDMC workers would remain absent from work without permission, report late to work, would delay in completing their jobs and even sometime not complete their assignments.

In November 2015, the commissioner had also suspended 25 of the cleaning staffs for such irregularities and negligence. But later all of them were reinstated after they protested.

The 17 civic workers who were recently suspended includes seven from C ward of KDMC including Rahul Bhalerao, Sadashiv Madavi, Mangal Bhalake, Jana Lokhande, Sham Karbari, Govar Goswami, Raju Shilwant, Deepak Jadhav,  Prabhakar Ghete and Vasant Mangal solanki. “This ten were suspended as they were irregular in taking action against the hawkers outside Kalyan railway station. And also against the hawkers who took over at the road in-between Mahatma Phule chowk to Shivaji chowk, where demolition of shops was done for road widening project,” said an officer from KDMC.

Four from the A ward were Anant Gangawane, Krishna Dhandhav, Dadsaheb Nikalje and Anilkumar Walmiki. “Four were suspended as they didn’t take action against illegal hawkers,” said an officer.

Three from H ward -- Mahesh Solanki, Jaihind Palkari and Santosh Dhangar -- were suspended for not taking action hawkers and illegal banners in their ward.

“They were found to have defaulted in their work and hence were suspended by the order of municipal commissioner,” said Public Relations Officer from Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation.

The 25 suspended in November, 2015:

On November 7, 2015, when the commissioner visited Ganesh Ghat in Kalyab (west), where the cleaning staff mark their attendance, it was found that several of them were absent. On November 8, the commissioner suspended one of the health officers, Prashant Puri, who was responsible for the irregularities and 24 other cleaning staff from KDMC.
