127 schools in the state get a zero per cent result in the SSC exams
With the announcement of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results yesterday, several students and schools celebrated.
However, for some schools in the state there was some bad news because the schools had a zero per cent result.
This means that not a single student appearing from those schools managed to pass. Out of the 127 schools in Maharashtra that got zero per cent results, 21 are from the city.
According to board officials, 21 schools from the city received zero per cent results. Officials said that the list of the schools would be released later.
Ujjwala Patil, chairperson of the Maharashtra State board, said, "We have identified that out of 127 schools in the state, 21 are from Mumbai and we will get the names of these schools tomorrow.
The Board will try to improve these schools academically and give them remedial coaching tips to improve their academic records."
Providing insight into why the schools performed so dismally, a member of the Board Seema Kanse said, "The board will first check if these zero per cent schools are being run in a proper manner.
Staff and methods of teaching will be looked into and we shall then provide remedies to improve their records."
The overall result of Mumbai this year is 80.03 per cent. However, the pass percentage has dipped from 89.52 per cent in 2010 to 87.93 percentage.
But, there is some good news as officials announced that the rate of copying decreased substantially. "From last year's 79 cases, only 62 cases were recorded this year," said an official.
