Every Thursday, SoBo’s galleries keep their doors open till 9.30 pm, a few hours longer than their usual closing time.

The idea is to give those staying in the suburbs and the city’s working population a chance to visit a gallery beyond the closing time. And to make the evening special, Sakshi Art Gallery and Alliance Francaise de Bombay has organised a special screening of six best animation short films from the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Top favourites on the list include The Mysterious Geographical Adventures of Jasper Morello by A Lucas, winner of 2005 and The House Made of Small Cubes, a short animation film by K Kato, winner of 2008, in the Short Film category.

While Lucas tells the story of a royal navigator, Jasper Morello, stuck between the guilt of leaving behind a sick wife and his search for the cure of a disease that has plagued his city Gothia, Kato’s The House Made of Small Cubes is the story of an aged widower who adds additional levels on to his house to stay dry in a flood. However, one day, he drops his smoke pipe into the water, thus begins a journey to search his pipe that unravels scenes from his life.

The five remaining films to be screened at the venue include Tragic Story with Happy End by R Pessoa, The Pearce Sisters by L Cook, The Tale of How by The Blackheart Gang and Skhizen by J Clapinu00a0The screening also marks the end of the celebration of 50 years of this prestigious festival that borrows its name from the town of Annecy in South Eastern France, and which started in the year 1960.
