Sena cub wins record 8 out of 10 seats in university Senate elections after adding an extra A to his name

A nameu00a0alteration may have proved disastrous for Ashok(Rao) Chavan, but it seems to be doing wonders for the extended Thackeray family.

After his uncle (Swa)Raj dropped the first three letters in his name and rose to prominence as the MNS chief and champion of all things Marathi, Shiv Sena cub Aditya Thackeray added an extra A to his name recently.

The Mumbai University senate election took place soon after and the Yuva Sena, led by Aaditya, won a record eight out of 10 seats (see box).

Sources in the Sena, however, claim Aaditya's name alteration was not done on the recommendation of any astrologer or baba, but was a spontaneous decision taken by the 20-year-old history student.

According to a source, during Aaditya's school days, his principal had once written his name with a double A on a register.

"The principal had mentioned it with a double A. Aaditya did not consult any numerologist or anyone else. And, anyway, it is better than adding an entire surname to your name," he said, taking a veiled dig at a former CM.

"It sounds perfect. When written in Devanagari, the name is spelled with the equivalent of two As. My friends like the new name too and, hence, it will remain with a double A," said Aaditya.

'Beneficial'

Celebrity numerologist Sanjay Jumaani said, "Nearly a month or two ago, I had suggested that Aditya change his name and add an A.

This brings him under the influence of the sun and it will prove beneficial as everyone will revolve around him."

Head to Head
Aaditya, son of Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray and grandson of Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, had a face off with his uncle Raj in the senate elections which were held on December 26. The MNS managed to win only two seats despite being rumoured to have allied with the Congress and the Swabhimaan Sanghatana headed by Nitesh Rane.
