Gone are the days when a library was merely frequented by bookworms browsing through fat, dusty tomes to borrow home. The newly-opened recreational library at Aundh offers something for everyone, including movies, games and toys. Bookmark boasts of above 80,000 books, 10,000 movies, more than a hundred magazines, 15,000 games and loads of branded toys. They also rotate their stocks twice a month, from branch to branch, to refresh their collection.
Ambience: The library is crowded with bookshelves that are choc-a-bloc with the latest books and magazines. There is a lone table to sit and browse but since it is filled at all times with avid readers, it is tough to find a place there.
Range: Popular fiction authors such as Dan Brown and Sydney Sheldon share shelf-space with self-help books such as The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari and Chicken Soup for the Soul. Though, their range of teen fiction and children's books is limited, there is a huge selection of women's magazines and an extensive collection of vernacular books. If the book you are searching for is unavailable, they will make sure to procure it for you.
Bookmark has a variety of board games as well, which are an excellent way to keep children busy on a rainy day without denting a hole in your wallet.
How to register: They have several membership plans to suit different needs. You can place your request online or by phone. Their database is centralised so that books can be obtained from anywhere in the city. Don't worry if there is no library outlet near your house they will deliver products to your doorstep. Home delivery is scheduled to begin by the end of the month.
Bookmark has outlets in Pimpale Saudagar, Aundh, Pimpri, Bavdhan, and Pashan and new outlets at Kothrud and Magarpatta are on the anvil.
