Alibaug youth held for his grandma's murder

Mira Road police on Wednesday night arrested a 26-year old youth from Alibaug for the murder of his 82-year old grandmother at her Bhayander home.

Mira Road police on Wednesday night arrested a 26-year old youth from Alibaug for the murder of his 82-year old grandmother at her Bhayander home.

According to the cops, Sagar Patil, the accused was in depression as he was unemployed for several years.


"We were on the lookout for Sagar, as he was seen running out of the victim's house by a relative, shortly before the body was found."


"We immediately launched a manhunt for Sagar and nabbed him from Alibaug at around 9 pm," said a police officer from Mira Road police station.


The victim, Parvati Pisekar stayed on the first floor of Shree Ganesh Krupa housing society in Bhayander (east), with her son Manohar, daughter-in-law Vasanti and her grandson.

She had been ailing for a while, added the police.

Sagar and his father Dwarkanath, on Tuesday visited Paravati to inquire about her health. While Dwarkanath, a Alibaug resident, left for his home, Sagar decided to stay back.

On Wednesday, around 11 am, Sagar was seen running out of the house, shortly before the victim's body was found. Parvati was in a pool of blood, with stab wounds on her hest, stomach and back. She was stabbed with a sharp weapon, said the police.u00a0

Sagar did not take away any money or ornaments before fleeing.

"The boy is booked under section 302, IPC for murder. We will be producing him in the court today. He has not yet revealed the reason behind him killing his grandmother," officer added.
