The minor girl who has been booked for killing her newborn child by throwing it from the window of a Versova tower told the police that her employer’s driver raped her nine months ago. Police are waiting to record the girl’s complete statement, since she is still in a critical condition.

mid-day has reported on the incident in detail (see box), wherein a child was flung out from the sixth floor of an apartment in Atlantis building on J P Road, Versova, allegedly by its 16-year-old mother on Saturday night. The flat is a duplex residence with its owner staying on the seventh floor, while the girl was on the sixth floor that night.

Police are on the lookout for the child’s father to book him for rape. The teen has told the police that it was her employer’s driver who raped her nine months ago. The man worked for the family for only 12 days, and the girl doesn’t even know his name.
Versova police will now question the employers regarding the driver and whether they were aware of the rape. They will also try to locate the driver’s address. Meanwhile, the girl is in a critical condition in the ICU of Cooper Hospital, since she had lost a lot of blood. “We will record her complete statement when she is able to talk,” said the investigating officer from Versova police station.

Police are also probing whether someone else was also involved in the murder of the child, who was found wrapped in a cloth and with strangulation marks on his neck. Sources said officials had found blood between the bathroom and the bedroom of the flat. “We found that there was blood near the window and at the spot where the baby was found.
However, the girl herself was bleeding heavily, and had she killed the child and thrown the body, there should have been a lot more blood.
