The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to rubbish talk of there being a compromise between Lalit Modi and some BCCI biggies.
A press release issued at 12:07 pm yesterday, stated: "Mr Arun Jaitley and Mr Ram Jethmalani met yesterday night for some other matter not connected to BCCI.u00a0 The statement made by Mr Mohd Abdi, General Counsel and Constituted Attorney of Mr L K Modi, regarding some understanding being reached, is totally false and BCCI denies the same."
But the word 'compromise' came up again when the Supreme Court asked the BCCI and former IPL commissioner Modi to decide within six days the composition of a panel which is probing the alleged financial irregularities committed by Modi.
The apex court gave the BCCI and Modi time to work out a compromise on the composition of the disciplinary committee.
Senior counsel Ram Jethamalani told the court that since the BCCI said it was not possible to change the composition of the committee, he would discuss the matter with his client Modi. The tussle becomes an interesting one because neither party is willing to budge. Modi insists that the disciplinary committee members Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Jyotiraditya Scindia have a bias towards him and hence should not be the ones probing him.
