A BEST double-decker bus turned turtle in Mumbai today killing one motorist and injuring several others.
Another Mumbaikar’s life was lost today in what seems to have been another case of reckless driving. Only this time it was a BEST bus who was involved in the incident.
On Friday, a double-decker BEST bus turned turtle while speeding towards the Mumbai suburban station of Bandra. The accident, which took place right on the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Kalanagar, left an unidentified motorcyclist dead after the bus apparently collapsed on him. Over 12 of the bus’ passengers and several others travelling in other vehicles where injured.

The motorist was brought dead to Bhabha hospital, while the injured have been taken to Sion hospital.
The accident happened at around 4.15pm when a double decker bus, route number 310 which was transporting passengers from Kurla (West) to Bandra (East) via the Bandra Kurla Complex, tilted while in motion.
“An investigation will be conducted to know the precise reason behind this accident,” said N Walawalkar, BEST spokesperson.
The prima facie evidence suggests that the cause of the accident could have been over-speeding, since the roads were uncongested it being a bank holiday.
Road traffic towards BKC and Bandra station was severely affected due to the accident.
