BEST's 30% shocker for South Mumbai

Here's a piece of news that is sure to knock the lights out of South Mumbikars' day-to-day life.

With the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) approving the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking’s demand for a hike, starting June 1, SoBoites will have to shell out 30 per cent extra on their electricity bills. This approval will allow the undertaking to recover losses of around Rs 3,400 crore. BEST has around 10 lakh customers in the city.
