Two people lost their lives when a speeding truck ran them over on the Western Expressway, Goregaon (East) yesterday.
The police officers from the Vanrai police station informed that the accident took place at 7.15 am, near New Ashok Nagar. 50-year-old Bilal Jamaluddin Shah, a tailor, was returning from the public toilet opposite his shop.

A motorcycle bumped into him while he was crossing the road and, due to the impact, both the rider, identified as Murli Chauhan (26), and Shah fell on the road. Before anyone could figure out what was happening, a speeding truck, travelling towards Dahisar, ran over the two, crushing them.
"On seeing the accident, Shah's son, who was sitting in the shop, rushed Shah and Chauhan to the nearby hospital but both were declared dead on arrival," said a police officer.
The police have arrested the truck driver identified, as Murlidhar Yadav (27), for rash and negligent driving, and causing death due to negligence.
“Yadav, a resident of Vapi, was going to Dahisar to deliver vegetables to vendors various vendors in Dahisar,” the police added.u00a0
