The body of a four-day-old girl child was found in a heap of garbage in Bhayander yesterday morning
According to the police, a garbage collector spotted the infant’s body wrapped in a plastic bag and informed the police.u00a0
Police Inspector Sunil Wadke from the Bhayander police station said that they have sent the body for post-mortem to Bhagwati Hospital to ascertain actual cause of death, and a case of murder has been registered against unknown persons.

“Based on the circumstantial evidence, we have registered a case of murder against the infant’s parents,” Wadke said.
The police are trying to trace the nursing home or hospital where she was born. Sleuths have been contacting hospitals in the vicinity to find out how many babies were born in the area in the past week.
“We are now trying to find out where the girl was born and the reason behind why she was killed. We have registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and are carrying on an investigation,” said a police officer from the Bhayander police station.u00a0
