Here's what celebs tweeted:

Rahul Bose: Great decision. "@ESPNcricinfo: Dhoni to retire from Test Cricket with immediate effect in order to concentrate on ODI and T20 formats"

Missed the last hour of play. And Dhoni's retirement from tests. Might have to make my lunches shorter. #AusvsInd

Said it before, i'll say it again : as a test captain Dhoni was the least impressive. He is at his captaincy best in the shorter formats.

But no doubt over Dhoni's ability to inspire, even in test cricket. Many occasions when players said without him they couldn't hv performed.

All in all, the passage of a tremendous influence on Indian test cricket. Go well, Dhoni. See you in the shorter formats!

Shekhar Kapur: We will miss u @msdhoni. Such an enigmatic player/captain/man. As long as you were on the field, anything could happen. #Dhoni #TESTCRICKET

Karan Wahi: Here comes the biggest shocker of 2014. Whyyyyyy.. Ms dhoni retires from teat cricket. ....wats goin on....

dont think this is the way to go ...@msdhoni u had one more match in the series ...u hav given so much to ur fans, let us gv it back to u

Virr Das: Make fun of Dhoni. Make fun of Dhoni.
Say just horrible things about a person.
He retires.
*pause*
RESPECT!! ADMIRATION!! LEGACY!!
