If Jai Ho’s opening is anything to go by, Salman Khan seems to have not really succeeded in working his charm on cinemagoers. The actor’s film had a slow start at the box office with the first day collection of the film being just Rs 17.75 crore.

The film’s collection then dipped on Saturday, but there was a jump in figures on Sunday. The first weekend collection was around Rs 60 crore which was below expectations for a Salman film. Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas said, “The film picked up slow and it didn’t live up to our expectations,’’ he said.

It is being said that actor is surprised by his film’s low collection, and is ready to take the blame if the film does not do good business this week. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh said, “Salman has returned to the big screen after more than a year but his film hasn’t performed on par with his earlier releases, including 'Dabangg', 'Ready', 'Bodyguard', 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Dabangg 2'. The industry is shocked over this development. The film could have been promoted aggressively and they could have roped in an established actress opposite Salman.’’

Salman Khan is known to have set records at the box office over the last few years. This year though, Jai Ho’s first weekend collection has only matched that of 'Ek Tha Tiger' (Rs 60 crore).
