The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has asked a TV channel not to telecast an episode of its famous show based on the Dec 16 Delhi gangrape, an official source said Friday.

"Sony has been conveyed informally the request not to air the episode," the official source told IANS.

Crime Patrol episodes are based on real-life crime stories.

An official behind the show said a week ago that they planned to base the Jan 11-12 episode on the brutal gangrape and torture of a 23-year-old physiotherapist trainee in south Delhi. The young woman died in a Singapore hospital Dec 29 of her grievous injuries.

The six rapists, including a juvenile, have been arrested and charges, including of murder, have been filed against five of them.
