Underworld don Chhota Rajan aide and sharpshooter Yusuf Bachkan, who was arrested on charges of killing city-based builder Subbaraju in 2001, is selling arms despite being housed in the Gulbarga jail.

The arms deal came to light when KG Halli police nabbed Bachkan's 26-year-old brother Madan Sulaiman Khan red-handed while he was handing over two pistols and five rounds of live ammunition to Ismail Shariff alias Nana.

Shariff, a notorious rowdy from Shivaji Nagar is involved in over 33 criminal cases. He was booked under the Goonda Act and released recently after serving one year in prison.

After detailed questioning, Khan confessed to having got the weapons from Bachkan.

Death dealing?
During questioning, Nana confessed that he had approached Bachkan in Gulbarga jail with a request to get him two guns. "Bachkan, with the help of his associates, arranged two pistols and five cartridges and asked Nana to collect the same from his brother," KG Halli Police Inspector T Rangappa said.

According to the inspector, on Bachkan's instructions, his associate identified as Basava and another person, brought the weapons and handed them over to Sulaiman, asking him to collect Rs 1.3 lakh from Nana. Based on a tip-off, a team of officials led by Rangappa intercepted the trio near Muslim Colony where the weapon was being exchanged for money.

"The duo has been booked under the Arms Act and remanded to judicial custody," Rangappa informed adding that the cops have informed the authorities concerned about Bachkan's arms dealing. The police are also investigating whether Sulaiman had supplied arms to others as well.
