Inspired from the 2012 Ayushmann Khurrana film, 'Vicky Donor', couple from Bhandup lured unemployed youth to become sperm donors; the catch: virility test costing Rs 2 lakh

Mumbai con couple's 'master bait': Donate sperm, earn lakhs

In his hit 2012 movie Vicky Donor, Ayushmann Khurrana played an unemployed youth, who ends up earning lakhs, after a doctor sees unlimited potential in his sperm. The movie ended up inspiring Tabrez aka Salim Khan and his partner Renuka Jadhav to con unemployed youth into parting with their sperm, paying them to get it tested, so that when their swimmers do get ‘selected’, they can earn lakhs, a la Khurrana in the movie.

Since there is a stigma associated with sperm donation, several donors choose to keep their identity hidden. Taking advantage of this, the Bunty and Babli of Bhandup duped more then 30 men who wanted to get into the business of sperm donation.

Finding the target
The couple would do a recce and thorough study of three kinds of individuals: those who wanted to earn a lot of money in a short time, those who are unemployed and those being taunted by their family for being unemployed. They dress up like professionals, approach these men and offer their proposal.

The couple would brainwash them for days and lure them into making ‘big’ money with a ‘small’ investment.

They met the targets in crowded areas and brainwash them for hours. Once the man was ready, they asked him for money in advance for the lab test, tell him that were gathering more candidates and needed some time, only to never contact the victims again.

The unsuspecting victims were promised that once their sperm passes the lab test, they will become regular donors and earn Rs 4,70,000 per month for their ‘donation’. However, the ‘donors’ had to pay Rs 2 lakh for the test.

The couple would ensure the victims that this is just the beginning and they would get great returns on the investment they were making.

Cops sniff racket
The profitable racket being run by the couple was noticed by the police when an aspiring sperm donor informed them about it. After getting conned by couple, individuals did not turn up to police or tell their families out of shame.

Vijendra Lambe from Bhandup Police station, who is the investigating officer in this case, told mid-day, “We are trying to identify more victims and request them to come ahead to give their complaints, We have registered case against the couple under Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code, on the complaint of one such victim. Now we have 16 such victims list who have been duped by the couple.”
