Congress appoints Soni, Maken as general secretaries
Gearing up for the general elections scheduled for 2014, the Congress party yesterday made a major organisational reshuffle, inducting former union ministers Ambika Soni, Ajay Maken and C P Joshi as general secretaries.
While Maken will look after communications, publicity and publication, Joshi will be in-charge of the party affairs in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar.
Meanwhile, Digvijay Singh was shunted out from the charge of the party in UP. He has been given the charge of Karnataka, Goa and Andhra Pradesh.
Party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi also announced the reconstituted Congress Working Committee.
