As reported by mid-day yesterday, the Optra was hired from AM Motors in Worli and had changed hands twice in 2012 itself. It had been traced to its current owner in Vashi on Thursday.

Crucial evidence
A police officer said, “The car will be a crucial piece of evidence. Sheena was allegedly murdered inside the car and taken to Gagode Budruk village in Raigad district where she was burnt. The cops will recreate the scene in the car — where Indrani and Sanjeev sat and how they murdered Sheena.

They will also check how they figured out a way to avoid suspicion by making it look like Sheena was sleeping on Indrani’s lap while they were on their way to Pen.” He added, “The Vashi-based car owner will now have to make do without his car for several months or a year. He had bought the car for Rs 80,000 from a person who had bought it from AM Motors in Worli.

We will check the car for any changes or modifications.” Another police officer said, “The car was taken from the owner and brought to Mumbai. The car owner, who had distributed sweets when he had bought the car in 2012, was shocked after he learnt that it had been used in the now-infamous Sheena murder case.”
