Police Inspector Manohar Shankar Joshi (55) from the special branch filed the complaint against Gorhe and Narvekar at the Bund Garden police station yesterday. The leaders are charged under section 153 (promoting enmity between different groups and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and section 120 (b) (hatching criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police have also submitted the copy of the First Information Report (FIR) regarding the case before the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) R L Wankhede at the Shivajinagar court on Wednesday afternoon. They have also submitted a CD carrying the mobile phone conversation between Gorhe and Narvekar and a four-page typed document about the same in the court.
u00a0According to the tapped conversations, Narvekar allegedly gave instructions to Gorhe to cause violence by stoning, burning buses and rioting while simultaneously informing the TV crew to cover it during the Pune Bandh agitation called on Tuesday by the BJP- Shiv Sena to protest the removal of the Dadoji Konddeo statue from Lal Mahal. Special powers ufffd as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court on phone tapping in 1997 to tap the phone calls of political leaders ufffdwere used to tap the phone call between Gorhe and Narvekar.u00a0
u00a0A senior police officer said, "During the technical surveillance, a call between Gorhe's cell number and Narvekar's cell number was recorded at 11.56 pm on December 27 in which Narvekar allegedly gave instructions on how to carry out violence on Tuesday."
